Behind the scene of everything magnificent is a team of leaders. In University Honors, we call them the “Honors Leadership Committee” or in short, HLC. This team plans and organizes all of the events. Every week, they assemble together and magic is born.



Oliva Jimenez of HLC summarizes this phenomenon with a simple phrase: “We are here to make sure your thoughts are represented in the University Honors community.” By we, I’m talking about these proud leaders who work hard to make sure that University Honors is active in all facets of college and academia. Need community work? They’ve planned it. Longing for an educational trip? They’ve got it too. Ready to party? Yes, it’s on the calendar. Like a great typhoon, HLC will blow you away with their work ethics.

Three subgroups form HLC: committee presidents, class cohorts, and HLC chairs. The committee presidents are the heads of the Media and Communication Committee, Social Committee, Service Committee, Co-Curricular Committee, and the Outreach and Recruitment Committee. Class cohorts are the representatives from each graduating class. Then there are the HLC chairs: president, vice president, and secretary of the committee itself.

The position titles might intimidate some, but every one of these individuals are extremely friendly. Aside from being outgoing, caring, funny, approachable, respectable, and charismatic, they are so much more. In essence, one should never be scared to speak to these leaders, because they are more than happy to speak to anyone who has an idea or opinion about University Honors and events.

No one’s perfect but they’re pretty close. Like a double platinum credit card, they’re on the high rise of amazingness. Embodying the ideal qualities of a leader, they will never let University Honors down. Once again, they are here to make sure your thoughts get represented in this community.
