The excitement over UCR’s School of Medicine first ever Open House on February 1 was positively electrifying as the school used its first opportunity to show people from all over the community what it had to offer. Esteemed speakers, such as Dean Olds to Dr. Schiller, the senior associate dean of Student Affairs, welcomed the large group of people who came. From the early morning to noon, people of all ages eagerly explored the school’s Medical Education building, listening in on research presentations from medical faculty and “oohing” and “ahhing” over the lifelike robots medical students use for stimulations. In addition, several outreach programs aimed at kids to college students of all ages were prominently featured at the open house. All in all, the open house was a smashing success and showed that UCR’s medical school is certainly living up to its promise of training physicians rooted in the Inland Empire.
